Jing wang jia yuan neighbourhood

In Jingwangjiayuan neighbourhoods in suburban of Beijing. One of the first things that got my attention was some sort of windows guard fencing that was installed for most of the buildings and even towers. I asked myself; What they are guarding? Why using these fences even when there is no need? Strangely, at night, all curtains behinds those fences were tied back, and I could easily see the insides of my neighbours’ houses. The contrast between security and liberty that could be seen in Chinese urban environments was the base of this art project. This project has been shown in Redgate gallery.
