Elmira Abolhassani is an Iranian-Portuguese visual artist and glassmaker based between Lisbon and Tehran, whose multidisciplinary practice bridges technical precision with nuanced conceptual inquiry.
Holding a Master’s degree in Glass Art, Science, and Technology from the Faculty of Fine Arts at the University of Lisbon, her journey explores themes of human connection, cultural identity, and the delicate architecture of memory.
While renowned for her expertise in lampworking with borosilicate and soda-lime glass, she fluidly incorporates a diverse range of materials and mediums—including textiles, reflective elements, and multimedia components—selecting each for its distinct tactile presence and symbolic weight.
Ranging from intimate, poetic sculptures to large-scale architectural installations and structural interventions, her practice engages space dynamically, transforming varied matter into evocative reflections on the interconnected human experience through exhibitions and residencies worldwide.
